What is art?
Art implies the production of something beautiful using skill and ability.
There are in all seven arts. Painting, Sculpture and Architecture form one group; and Dance, Music, Drama and Literature form the other.
Design or a mental plan is essential for every art. There are a certain qualities, which make a perfect designer. These tell us how a thing has to be given a specific arrangement and form.
1. IMAGINATION - INSPIRATION
Whenever a writer sits down to pen, he merges with new ideas. This is because he forms a mental image of things, makes a guess and then stimulates to creative activity.
This is similar to every artist. He gets inspiration from the past, gets motivated and finally emerges with a finer idea.
Inspiration leads to imagination and imagination leads to creation.
2. CREATION WITH LOGIC AND COMMAND ON THE CREATION
Every creation springs up from the mind and mind can think of anything wild. It may think of unusual option or a naughty ruse. But, every creation has to be sensible, logical and intentional.
Every venture has to be stated in its own, new, original way. It is not the quantity, but the quality, which matters. Every task done with a complete understanding (command) leads to good results.
Whatever a person does, has to be to the mark. It should never be vague but should be definite and clear.
Every designer should make it a point to begin with something accurate. Not a single aspect of a design has to be neglected. A perfect design will then evolve which will have no error.
Masterpieces are not accomplished overnight. Every great thing requires long time, patience and continuous effort. Indeed, 'Rome was not build in a day'; but we also know that,'Time and Tide wait for no man'.
A sense of timing is therefore, of great value.
Artists live with the mind and art has no limitations of time and place. But, punctuality is also a factor. Time is ever flowing and its period is as important as amount of labour.
5. SIMPLIFICATION AND CLARITY OF THOUGHTS
Complexity leads to confusion and these lead to nothing but more complexities. So, to make others understand, one must be clear in his mind and free from doubts. Clarity of thoughts is a must to begin anything new.
Simpler the thoughts and language, the deeper is their effect.
6. BOLD PRESENTATION
It is very difficult to comprehend vague presentations. Scribbling and scratching give a negative aspect to the work. Being bold in one's thoughts results in vivid, strong designs. It shows the confidence and certainty of the designer.
7. UNDERSTANDING AND THE USE OF ART PRINCIPLES
Every art has its own rules and limitations. These form the basic principles which have to be obeyed and must be completely understood.
8. SENSE OF APPRECIATION
Beauty is meant to be admired. But, the way and how it is admired, varies. Even, the taste and choice differs from person to person.
Only a designer can judge the excellence of a given design. It will never appeal to a pilot because art requires sensitive understanding rather than use of measurement.
